The Pink and Aqua with Stars lap quilt is done!

Stars you ask?  If you look carefully, you will find 2 large hot pink/red 8 pointed stars with 16 patch centers. it also features squares in squares, both large and small,  and 3 chains of grey patches, one long and two short!

The quilt has one border, on the bottom, featuring triangles that look like pennants hanging on a line.

This really is lap quilt.  The colors and pattern play best together when seen at close.

All done!  The "Busy Beach Town" quilt is finished!  I used a blue/green/lavender variegated thread for a free motion loops-and-stars quilting pattern.  And I incorporated a couple scraps from the quilt into the solid grey binding.

It's a two sided quilt.  Here's the back--a licensed fabric panel (C) 2015 Hasbro (TM) for Quilting Treasures ®

The front of this quilt will be good for floor time when the baby is an infant, and play time when he's old enough to have a garage full of toy cars and trucks!  Fun times!

Busy Beach Town Quilt Top

This is my "Busy Beach Town" baby quilt top, ready to be quilted.  It's small, a good size for using for floor time for a baby or for a toddler to drag around.

The Four Square patches create red chains in one direction, a safety green in the other. There are also 2 blue chains that blend in with the bigger blocks and aren't really evident.

It is a busy beach town!  Child's delight--rail crossings, construction trucks, fire engines, ambulances, Dalmations!  Maybe NOT an adult's idea of quiet vacation, but if you look carefully, you'll see some river rafting and a coupe sailboats in the large blue blocks, and of course the lighthouses!  So a little something to make everyone happy on an August afternoon in a beach town!

Christmas Forest Frolicking Fun Quilt

by Judy Tucker

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas I want to show my Quilt.

It has 1 cherry block, 2 red squares, 3 shades of green, 4 red rectangles, 5 quilting stitches, 7 foxes sledding, 8 bunny trios, 10 rabbits guarding, 11 foxes leaping and 12 Christmas presents... but that's not quite the song!!

This is my 2015 Christmas quilt.  It's an original pattern. I sat down one day in December and sketched out the design on graph paper.  It's interesting how different the finished quilt seems than the quilt in the sketch, though clearly it is the same pattern. It may be the difference between the 2 dimensional drawing and the quilt which has texture, or maybe it's the color intensity of the fabrics.

I used my fabric, Christmas Forest Frolicking Fun, printed by Spoonflower.com with Kona® solids for the greens and reds.  The two whites are a sateen and a white on white large snowflake print. The quilt, with so much white negative space, has a very festive, snowy feel.

The back is a large intense floral with dark reds, greens, pinks and purples. The contrast is unexpected but really works!

Wheelchair Quilt: Flower Box

Our guild, Proper Bostonian Quilters, makes charity quilts for a variety of needs. One is a quilt suitable for use with a patient in a wheelchair.  It's important that these quilts are the right sizes so that they don't drag on the floor or get caught in the wheels or other mechanisms of the chair.  Our guild asks that wheelchair quilts to measure between 36 x 36 inches to 36 x 40 inches.

This quilt measures 36 x 36 inches and is made with 2 different sized squares and sashing. It's a great scrap quilt and can be completed in a weekend.
