Rooting around in my stash this summer, I found this bird print which I’ve always loved. It feels rather Scandinavian to me. Probably it isn’t, but the graphics and yellow and blue colorway makes me think that way.

I was determined to only use the fabrics I had on hand. While my collection of solids is dwindling in some colors, I was able to find what I needed this time!

I had to widen the backing to fit the quilt top and I really like the added panel there. It’s almost as nice as the front.

The blue fabric with the waves as been in my blue box forever. Every time I saw it, I asked myself why I purchased it in the first place! But it’s perfect here.

The binding came out of my bag of leftover binding bits. The orange was already attached to that blue strip so I decided to leave it there. It’s an unexpected surprise.

The pattern is from East-Meets-West Quilts by Patricia Belyea. It’s more of a formula for making blocks than an actual pattern, and I find using her technique both fun and great for stash quilts.
